Surprise! Wake Up Bloomberg! SAU is here.

Friday, April 13, 2012

Who got woken up by Student Activists United today?

We will give you a few clues:

1. This person has pushed for failed educational policies that have contributed to only 13% of Black and Latino students being college ready.
2. They live on the Upper East Side.
3. They have ignored our request for a meeting.

Yup, you guessed it.  Bloomberg.

The first segment of "Wake up, Bloomberg" aired today in front of Mayor Bloomberg's house so that he could hear our concerns since we have been ignored.

Sebastien and Diana as co-hosts

After the NYPD asked us to go back further down the street, Bloomberg ran out of his house and was in his SUV in seconds.....I guess he didn't want to face us and had asked to get us back as much as possible.  All he had to do was to facebook, email, tweet or call and we would have never shown up at his door.

Well that didn't stop us from picketing and protesting in his neighborhood....

Apparently, our protest was noticed as they had NYPD follow us for blocks after we left with sirens and at times, going against traffic.  More pictures and video to come on this whole event....stay tuned!

FACE US Campaign April 2012

We are asking Mayor Bloomberg for a meeting to explain why he continues to utilize failed and unproven education policies on the students of New York City.

Mayor Bloomberg, we are waiting a response.

Officially, we just made our request yesterday.

Unofficially, we have been waiting for a response for A DECADE.

Write us. Call us. Email us. Tweet us. Facebook us. FACE US.

Please note: We won't wait too long before our next action.

Hello World!

Thursday, April 5, 2012

We are Student Activists United (SAU) that consists of students in NYC that are working collectively to create change in the education system. Through the use of action and media, we raise awareness of Bloomberg’s... failed policies and the effect of these policies on NYC students. Our current demand is that the turnaround proposals slated for vote on April 26, 2012 be removed and not considered as a strategy for fixing schools. Rather, we want schools to be fixed with authentic community input.

Also join us today at City Hall while we fight and educate of the future incompentant policy of the "turnaround"
